Inspired by a moment of tranquillity in Bali, “Before the World Moved Again”, the first fragrance launched by New Niche, captures a world in which devotion and calm momentarily silence the clamour of everyday life. Artist and perfumer Chester Gibs has translated that fleeting moment into scent, creating a fragrance that invites you to pause for a moment and simply be in the here and now.

On Sunday 26 July, Chester came to Smell Stories to present his creation.

It was an intimate gathering with a Balinese atmosphere.

He took us through his creative process, introduced some of the key ingredients that shaped the fragrance, and explained how his background as a visual artist influences the way he creates scents.

Alongside the perfume, Chester also presented a selection of his artworks, sparking a fascinating dialogue between image and scent.

Together, they offered a unique insight into the mind of an artist who expresses himself through more than one medium.
