Animal notes lend a warm and deeply human quality to perfumes. However, they rarely contain animal ingredients. Most of these are now banned, too rare or too expensive, and have been replaced by synthetic alternatives. But flowers (such as tuberose), oud and spices (such as cumin) can also evoke an animalistic sensation. They suggest the scent of warm fur or human skin. They can be seductively sensual, or raw and provocative. Animalic scents tend to feel especially alive on skin when they blend with our own natural scent.
