Perfume and wine may seem like two different worlds, yet at Cépages they blend together beautifully. Created by perfumer and winemaker Lauriane Guignon, the brand shows how scent and grape can grow from the same story: one of soil, tradition and passion. The French word “cépages” means grape varieties, and the whole universe of this house is built around the link between vineyards, perfume plants and the art of blending.

From vineyard to perfume bottle

Lauriane comes from a family of winemakers and growers of roses and perfume plants in Grasse. That is no coincidence: both worlds require patience, craftsmanship and a deep connection to the land. When the Centifolia rose fields almost disappeared in the 1990s, she and her father decided to replant them. A bold leap, but also a stubborn gesture of love for a nearly vanished tradition.

Today she uses those same roses in her perfumes, along with ingredients from the wine world. Even the alcohol in her fragrances is made from the leftovers of winemaking, such as grape marc and lees, rather than from grain or sugar. Nothing is wasted, and wine and perfume literally share the same roots.

An assemblage like a wine

Winegrowers speak of assemblage: blending grape varieties into a harmonious cuvée. Lauriane does the same, but with scent. Her fragrances combine flowers, herbs and woods like the notes of a wine: sometimes fruity, sometimes powerful, sometimes soft and round. A perfume, like a wine, tells a story of climate, soil and tradition.

A mindful approach

Cépages works with natural and biodegradable ingredients, and the packaging reflects the same care. The caps are made from leftover cork from the wine industry, the bottles are endlessly recyclable, and the pumps can be unscrewed for separate recycling. No unnecessary plastic wrapping, no hidden microplastics. It is elegance paired with a grounded view of the planet.

Liquid art

The motto of Cépages is “l’art liquide à l’état pur”, liquid art in its purest form. A perfume is an experience that unfolds in the air, just as wine comes alive in a glass. Both awaken memories, both take you traveling without leaving your seat.
