This Pompeian garden is about to flourish once more as it welcomes the triumph of divine beauty over the man-made toxicity of Lex Oppia*.

A light citrus breeze of bergamot and lemon tickles the bare skin, restoring its vigour, whilst the green mint and red pomegranate – the prelude to a bright new dawn – combine with light fig leaves to release sparkling herbaceous notes, able to reawaken senses that have been left dormant for far too long.

*The Lex Oppia was a Roman law that restricted not only the wealth of a woman, but also the display of wealth. The women took to the streets in protest. It was a striking manifestation of their power in what was a rigid patriarchal society. Speeches were made for and against the bill. But the women protesting didn't let their voices be silenced. After the speeches, the pressure on the streets by the demonstration became so great that the Lex Oppia was successfully revoked.
