Meeting Olivier Cresp, the king of gourmand fragrances
With more than 400 perfumes to his name, created for houses such as Azzaro, Boucheron, Cacharel, Dior, Dolce & Gabbana, Armani, Givenchy, Kenzo and Nina Ricci, Olivier Cresp has shaped the way the world smells.
When he composed Angel for Mugler, he changed perfume history and opened the door to what we now call "gourmand". Today that family of edible, addictive scents is everywhere. Back then, it was a small revolution in a star shaped bottle.
In 2018, he launched AKRO together with his daughter Anaïs Cresp. A brand inspired by everyday pleasures. Coffee that keeps you awake, warm lemon cupcakes fresh from the oven, pastel coloured macarons on a Sunday afternoon. Awake, Bake, Crush. Perfume as pleasure. Perfume as habit. Perfume as a little vice you allow yourself.
On March 20th, Olivier Cresp came to Smell Stories for an intimate meet and greet. It was a rare chance to meet one of the true masters of contemporary perfumery, to hear the stories behind the fragrances, and to smell his creations through his own words.
